August 23rd, 2011Its my Party.

If you are anything like me, I like to make lists. I also am not a party throwing person. My apartment is rather small; However should I ever want to throw a party, I’m sure I’d be making lists after lists. I like the idea of themed parties and the party planning checklist from the Party Queen, leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, the .pdf is free which is nice, but lacks in everything outside of food planning.

When throwing a party here’s a checklist I’d like to have

  1. A schedule for pre-party clean up of the house
  2. Invitation addresses to be sent out or e-mailed.
  3. Invitation/RSVP list (including allergies for guests
  4. Party favors list to buy at the store
  5. Music play list
  6. Games list
  7. Food served and the ingredients I’d need.
  8. If alcohol is served a list of Designated Drivers
  9. If there are people sleeping over a list of people that are going to stay
  10. A list of people that are going to help clean up and set up.
The Party planning checklist only has spaces were you can either write in, or type the snacks, meals, beverages etc that are served, the ingredients needed and what to buy at the store. Anyone who is savvy with Microsoft word can do a better presentation I fear. The boxes in this package are small and those like me with larger hand writing would make a mess of it.  The entire .pdf is four pages long to ‘help’ you make lists. The graphics look like a Middle school child’s project and not professional looking at all.  Also its set up for a 3 day party… I’m not sure about anyone else, but unless its a fair, gathering like a family vacation 3 days is rather much and the extra space could have ben used for something else, like the recipe itself so you don’t have to look through 500 books or 1,000 websites to find that one recipe. The only perk about this is it has a to prepare day, and for things like pasta salad, or deserts that have to set it will give ample time so the day of the party to do last minute clean up and touch ups of decorations. This is honestly something I wouldn’t use myself but for those of you that would, its free, just follow the link and save it to your hard drive and you can use it over and over again.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

December 16th, 2010Ahhh Shower!

I’ve been working now for three weeks. Because its in a factory I tend to NOT shower until after work. I had to leave early on Monday and misses Tuesday because of a double ear infection that kicked my ass. Went back Wednesday for work and the Christmas party which was nice.  But I’ve noticed that I was so sluggish yesterday at work. I usually am when I don’t shower before work. Today I said screw it I am going to shower, and I sat in there and scrubbed my face, etc. I can’t believe the difference on how much better I FEEL. I’ve never noticed the difference until I got out of the shower this time.

My sister and I are doing a huge weight loss journey together mine will be on here categorized under weight loss. I will be posting recipes and how to guides and I’m sure she will be as well. I’ve noticed that I adore cooking and baking and to be able to do it in a healthy way makes me very happy.

I get to see my boyfriend this weekend so I’m super excited about that,we are getting to be playful again with each other and that makes me happy.  He’s always been a really good friend of mine and considering I’ve known him for eleven years, he knows more about me than most people. He is one of two men that can listen to the way I saw hello or the way I talk and know that I’m depressed or pissed off.  It’s so weird that I almost gave up on him. I’m SO glad that I didn’t our love story is a rocky one. But damn its worth it.

December 16th, 2010Peppermint Bark how to.

I’ve been really trying hard on trying to get this domesticated thing down. One of the things I’ve always loved to do, no matter how bad I was at it, was bake and cook. I used to be not able to cook to safe my life, but with the help of my elder sister I’ve gotten a lot better at it. One of the things I’ve always wanted to try to make besides Christmas Crack is peppermint bark. Peppermint Bark is a fantastic Christmas treat as its made of milk chocolate (or dark if you prefer.) white chocolate, pepper mint sticks or in my case the round ones, smashed up.

Cover a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and grease.

You take 1 bag of milk chocolate chunks over a double boiler (or in my case a metal pot with water and a metal bowl sitting on top) melted until smooth as long as you stir them you can have it up on high but if you’re not sure of yourself keep it on medium length.Pour the melted chocolate  over the foiled part and smooth out with spoon or spatula.

After that take the 1 bag of white chocolate melt it the same way you did the milk chocolate. I put a splash of milk in it since it wasn’t melting smooth it was like of like a clump. Stir until smooth adding a few handfuls of the peppermint candy that you’ve smashed to the mix.

Pour over the chocolate right away. If you want a marbled effect take a knife and go through both layers until well marbled. While the mixture is still hot pour the rest of the peppermint candies over and put the entire cookie sheet in the refrigerator for a few hours until its hard and set up. Once its set up break into pieces and enjoy.  Put it into hot coco for a special treat!

Other than that its been pretty uneventful. I went to work and got to go to the work Christmas party which was something I’ve never done before. Came home to an amazing dinner and a long chat with my boyfriend.
